LITTLE MARLOW VILLAGE AMENITIES COMMITTEE

Little Marlow Village Fete on Bank Holiday Monday

25th August 2008

The Residents of Little Marlow have held a Village Fete on August Bank Holiday Monday for well over 30 years. The Fete is run by the Little Marlow Amenities Committee which is elected at an annual public meeting to which all villagers are invited.

The fete was very popular again this year and with so many visitors, money has been raised for local causes. Thank you to all who attended, and all who helped to make the day such a success.
As usual, the Parish Council’s stand was a focal point of interest, and our new Local History project was very popular and many people enjoyed reminiscing about the old days in Little Marlow and Well End, and the old photographs and maps were of great fascination. Due to the display, we have received several old photographs and information about local houses, families and events.

The AGM also decides the distribution of funds and those who have benefited in recent years include:

Little Marlow St John the Baptist Church
Little Marlow C of E  Primary School
Abbotsbrook Hall

Little Marlow Cricket Club
Little Marlow Pavilion

As well as the above, improvements to the Children’s play area  on the Recreation Ground (including a pair of picnic tables)  have been made; there’s also been the planting of trees and bulbs and the sprucing up of the parking area.

This year’s Fete will be its usual mixture of old favourites like the Tombola, Bric-a-Brac, Cakes, Coconut Shy, and Children’s Rides as well as new attractions such as a ‘fun’ Dog Show and Second Hand Crockery Stall.

Past Fetes have required the involvement of more than 60 local residents – helping out with stalls, teas, car parking etc.

Any new recruits are most welcome to help – in fact the more the merrier.
Little Marlow Fete needs you!

Advertising space in the Fete programme is supported by many local businesses and any further enquiries should be made to Committee member, Clive Innocent on Tel: 01628 484687
