Little
Marlow Village Fete on Bank Holiday Monday
25th
August 2008 The Residents of Little
Marlow have held a Village Fete on August Bank Holiday Monday for well over 30
years. The Fete is run by the Little Marlow Amenities Committee which is elected
at an annual public meeting to which all villagers are invited.
The fete was
very popular again this year and with so many visitors, money has been raised
for local causes. Thank you to all who attended, and all who helped to make the
day such a success.
The
AGM also decides the distribution of funds and those who have benefited in
recent years include: Little
Marlow St John the Baptist Church Little
Marlow Cricket Club As well as the above, improvements to the Children’s play area on the Recreation Ground (including a pair of picnic tables) have been made; there’s also been the planting of trees and bulbs and the sprucing up of the parking area. This
year’s Fete will be its usual mixture of old favourites like the Tombola,
Bric-a-Brac, Cakes, Coconut Shy, and Children’s Rides as well as new
attractions such as a ‘fun’ Dog Show and Second Hand Crockery Stall. Past
Fetes have required the involvement of more than 60 local residents – helping
out with stalls, teas, car parking etc. Quentin
