Lots has been written on this subject .. here is just some of it

Stadium plan does not mention Little Marlow.
FOOTBALL stadium planners have been warned not to forget about the Little Marlow community as the consultation drive for a new ground in the village steps up a gear.
Marlow FC hopes to move from its present Oak Tree Road site to a 10-acre greenbell area on the Little Marlow" gravel pits in a swap deal with land owners North West Estates.
Along with a stadium, the club proposes the installation of two other pitches for the community to use. The Alfred Davis Memorial Ground would be replaced by 80 new homes, including 30 affordable homes.
*** affordable to who ??? solicitors, accountants .... ***
Last week more than 7,000 Marlovians received brochures describing the football club's plans in detail.
But according to Little Marlow parish councillor Reg Watkins, some people in the village did not receive the brochures.  *** you're right MOST if not all did not receive it - do you think they care. ***
At Tuesday's parish council meeting, he said: "This is happening right on our doorstep and yet has not been made available to many of our residents. "It will affect them more than anyone else."
Cllr Watkins added: "It is disappointing that there is not a thing about Little Marlow in the brochure.
"Have they even thought of Little Marlow?"
Barbara Wallis said it was 'a shame' that a representative from the football club or North West Estates had declined invitations to come along to the meeting and called for talks to be held between the parish council and the applicants to address some questions.
Although Cllr Wallis said the council would not offer its thoughts on the plans some questions the parish would like to ask.
These included the chances of other recreational pursuits being catered for as part of the development, if an environmental impact assessment would he widely available, and what provisions for cyclists and pedestrians approaching Little Marlow would be made with the expected increase in traffic volumes.
Speaking after the meeting, Stewart Lawrie, spokesman for North West Estates, told the Advertiser: "We used a distribution company recommended to us by Marlow Town Council and we covered both Little Marlow and Marlow extensively."
He added: "The brochure emphasises the environmental benefits to Little Marlow - there would be a barrier to future development.
"The new facilities would work hand-in-hand with a vision for a country park for the gravel pits set out in Wyoombe District Council's Supplementary Planning Guidance for the site."
Mr Lawrie defended the applicants' decision not to go to the meeting.
He said: "It is very early in the process and it was thought it appropriate to allow the council to digest the plans and formulate their thoughts and questions.'
"The club and North West Estates are committed to meeting with all consultees and Little Marlow parish council is key to this."   ***  well we soon see how true that is ! ***

MARLOW Football Club is hoping to convince the community that a home away from Oak Tree Road is a goal worth getting.
The Blues has announced plans to create a new 10-acre facility at Little Marlow Gravel Pits.
Now the club is preparing to try and get Marlovians onside as the consultative process kicks-off.
Proposals include plans to build a main football pitch, plus another grass pitch for training and junior matches and a synthetic turf pitch.
A 500-seater stand would house all facilities, including a club and community room for functions.
North West Estates (NWE) owns the gravel pits site and if Marlow FC can be relocated there, NWE wants to build about 80 new homes in a land swap deal, including 30 affordable homes on the club's current Alfred Davis Memorial Ground. Club chairman Terry Staines said the move was vital to secure the future of the club.
He said: "If we do not manage to see this through I do not know how long we will be able to survive.
"The financial responsibilities of maintaining such an old ground and the lack of alternative revenues could kill the club."
According to Marlow resident Lance Slater the club has got off to a good start with an 'impressive' brochure mailshot to 7,000 Marlow homes this week. The leaflets give full details of the plans with digital images.

Mr Slater said: "It presents the vision very clearly and gives me more reason to think it a good move for the town.
*** maybe a very good move for the town .... what about the village its being dumped on ?? ***
There is a need for more affordable homes in the area and the present site offers a good location.
"And it seems the gravel pits would not be adversely affected by the new facilities - indeed it would benefit from the recreational facilities on offer."
Now the plans face further scrutiny of residents in Marlow and Little Marlow.
Little Marlow Parish Council will be discussing the scheme al its meeting on Tuesday and has invited a representative from the football club and NWE along to present the plans.
And the Court Garden Leisure Centre hosts a display of the plans from Thursday, November 10 to Saturday, November 12. The club and NWE insisted the views of everyone in the town would form part of the planning application to Wycombe District Council, which will be formulated in the coming months.

***** Notice 'everyone in the town'    NO mention of the village that its right next door to !!!!!  *******

One interpretation of the WDC gravel pit plan ....

Wycombe District Council (WDC) have set out their expectations for the future of the Little Marlow Gravel Pits area in their March 2002 Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) document. As set out in the SPG, the area already offers a number of formal and informal leisure and recreational facilities including water sports and camping at Westhorpe Farm, Marlow Rugby Club, and a network of public rights of way. WDC established the need for further leisure and recreational facilities in the area and identified the Little Marlow Gravel Pits area as an ‘excellent location’ in terms of its vehicular and pedestrian accessibility. The SPG promotes a flexible strategic masterplan for a country park in the area.

The SPG lists a number of issues that need to be addressed in order for the site to realise its potential as a location for a country park. These include improved vehicular, pedestrian and cycle access; additional visitor parking; and improved public transport. The SPG also notes that additional leisure and recreational development needs to take account of local residents and landowners, separate conflicting user groups and respect the ecological and landscape qualities of the site.

The relocation proposals put forward by Marlow Football Club significantly contribute towards addressing these key issues and also provide a significant community facility to the east of Marlow which could form a positive catalyst for future development of the country park. Specifically the proposals offer:

Improved vehicular, footpath and cycle connections; significant new community sports facilities and car parking
creation of a 4.5ha area of parkland to the north of the football club to form a welcoming entrance to the future country park; new native hedgerow, copse and parkland tree planting providing a strong framework to the site and increasing its biodiversity value improved habitat links and biodiversity; retention of generous offsets between the proposed development, surrounding buildings and the edge of Marlow; and location of the development in the area proposed for more active uses in the SPG masterplan and linkage of the proposed development with the existing activities cluster at Westhorpe Farm.

The proposals would represent suitable and sustainable development in accordance with the Little Marlow Gravel Pits SPG and would make an important and positive contribution to the future country park.
